Dear you,
I’m a guy who took formal design education and end up doing IT stuff. I love my current job, nonetheless. It pays for the bills, at the very least. I used to work for design agencies, in corporate-centric work culture and then some.
Years after years, I’ve realized that stuffs I’ve done and pieces I’ve designed, some of them made my corporate clients really satisfied. But deep down in me, I knew I didn’t totally share the same feeling myself.
It was during one of the defining moments did I realized that for whatever the outcome may be, your work must fully satisfies you first. Every Tom, Dick, Harry and their dogs know that in real world, this is something nearly impossible to achieve. Your best work in your professional portfolio may have a strong appeal to the masses, but it sometimes established at the expense of style, philosophy or orientation that you truly love.
I bode farewell to the agency, leaving behind everything but my passion in art, design and photography. And I felt glad ever since. Here I am, making the very stuff I love about on the side of my day job and on my own terms, without having to bow down to anyone’s. For once and for all.
Yours truly
